In our understanding the future of civic mindedness in Europe relies strongly on the ways we learn from the past and imagine the future. Perspectives from all over Europe need to be joined to explore our European history and create shared visions of the future. THE CIVICS thus aims to bring local and peripheral insights into conversation with established narratives about Europe, its past, the present, and possible futures. Listening to eyewitnesses; learning to read digitized testimonies; detecting instrumentalization and distortion of historical records in social media – all are tools of historical civic education to be shared. Likewise, records of our times, and projections of the future must bring together the multiple perspectives of which Europe is composed.
By means of pan-European idea challenges, study trips, exchange programmes and more, we aim to design formats that bring us a step closer to a shared vision for a European future.
The project Young Climate Professionals (YCP) (October 2022 – April 2023) is a series of activities meant to create new spaces for peer-to-peer learning on climate-related topics. Following a global as well as a local approach to green literacy, the participants will have the opportunity to develop individual projects and win a mini-grant. This way, the Young Climate Professionals from 10 European countries will be empowered hands-on to become agents of transformation in their respective countries and Europe for a greener future for all.
