We’re kicking off THE CIVICS Incubator workshop project with a focus on financial literacy.

On February 10th, THE CIVICS Innovation Hub, together with Znanje na djelu, organised a hybrid preparatory meeting – in Zagreb and online, as part of THE CIVICS Incubator workshop project, supported by ERSTE Foundation. During the preparatory meeting expert impulses, experiences, formats and tools on financial literacy education and training from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Germany were shared and discussed by the following participants with THE CIVICS:

Tim Engartner, Faculty of Human Science, University of Cologne (Germany)
Nina Freifrau von Gayl, Erste Financial Life Park – FLiP (Austria)
Sandra Ferenčak, Blogger on personal finances (Croatia)
An Lavens, Director of the BELvue Museum (Belgium)
Toni Milun, Math Teacher & Social Media Influencer (Croatia)
Vedrana Pribičević, Zagreb School of Economics and Management (Croatia)
Rossitza Wartonick, Financial Literacy Initiative Foundation (Bulgaria).

During the upcoming Incubator workshop, taking place at the end of October 2022 in Brussels, Belgium, the best practices will be showcased and the main takeaway questions will be explored further:

How can the knowledge about personal finances and financial issues in macroeconomic perspective be best enhanced when it comes to 15- to 18-year-olds? How can financial literacy training contribute to civic education? What formats and tools can motivate and engage the target group to take an interest in financial well-being?
